MARIA FEARN – Contemporary Artist & Designer

Maria is a Cleethorpes based contemporary artist and designer working under the studio name Fearn by Design. Originally trained in textile design, her practice spans interiors, branding and visual identity, alongside a growing body of mixed media artwork rooted in the coastal landscape.

Drawing inspiration from the ever changing North East Lincolnshire coastline, Maria’s work explores the relationship between people and place, shaped by the scale, movement and emotional pull of the coastal sky. Her paintings translate atmosphere into colour, capturing the shifting light and expansive horizons unique to the British coast.

Red Skies is a contemporary coastal art collection exploring saturated colour, shifting light and layered depth. Inspired by dramatic skies over the shoreline, the works combine silhouetted coastlines and architectural forms with luminous, expressive horizons.

Created using mixed media, textured surfaces and metallic finishes, each original artwork has a strong tactile quality, catching and reflecting light as the viewer moves. The result is a series of atmospheric, light-responsive paintings that echo the movement and energy of the coast.

Rooted in the physical experience of walking along the beach, Red Skies captures moments where land, sea and sky collide, offering collectors contemporary coastal artwork that is both immersive and emotionally resonant.
