Hand painted enamel on reclaimed aluminium traffic sign, mounted on board

Original Artwork

Inspired by a journey through Australia, Arrow transforms a discarded road sign into a striking piece of contemporary urban art. Originally a functional traffic sign, the surface has been completely reimagined through intricate hand painted enamel detailing, creating a hypnotic interplay of geometry, repetition, movement and light.

Built from thousands of carefully applied marks, the composition radiates outward from the original directional arrow, preserving the industrial identity of the object while elevating it into a collectible contemporary artwork. The reflective aluminium surface catches and shifts with changing light, while the traffic grade material subtly glows and reflects in darker environments, giving the piece an atmospheric presence both day and night.

The work balances street culture, design, travel and abstraction, drawing influence from Australian road systems, long distance travel, urban symbolism and contemporary geometric art. The reclaimed sign becomes both artefact and canvas  carrying traces of its original purpose while exploring ideas of direction, movement, journey and transformation.

Its bold circular structure, layered enamel patterning and industrial materiality create a powerful statement piece suited to contemporary interiors, collector spaces, modern architectural settings and design led environments.

A unique original artwork that merges reclaimed materials, contemporary craftsmanship and urban visual language into a highly distinctive collectible piece.
