First Light is a one of a kind photograph captured at Humberston Fitties Beach on 10 November 2025. Rendered in a soft monochrome palette, the image dissolves the boundary between sea, sky and land, evoking the quiet stillness of dawn.

A long exposure transforms the tide into a glass like surface, creating a calm, contemplative landscape. The stillness is interrupted only by a cluster of reeds, which have been delicately hand-painted in green, introducing a subtle yet striking point of life and contrast within the otherwise muted composition.

This interplay between photography and intervention gives the piece a quiet tension, balancing restraint with presence, minimalism with intention.

Printed on HP Premium Lustre 260gsm using pigment-based inks and mounted on acid free board. Photographed with a Fujifilm X-T2 and 12mm lens.
