Revelation, 2026
Faye Trickett
Hand painted wall sculpture
19 × 12 cm
In Revelation, Trickett reinterprets the sacred heart as a site of inner vision and psychological depth. The composition centres on a dark, lustrous heart, within which an eye emerges quietly unsettling and symbolic. This focal point shifts the work from devotional object to contemplative emblem, evoking themes of awareness, exposure, and self recognition.
Framed by an ornate, lace like border and crowned with a stylised flame, the piece draws on traditional iconography while introducing a more enigmatic, contemporary tone. The contrast between the restrained palette and the intricacy of the hand painted detailing lends the work a sense of tension between concealment and revelation, surface and interior.
Intimate in scale, Revelation invites close looking. It proposes the heart not only as a symbol of feeling, but as a vessel of perception suggesting that to see clearly is, in itself, an act of transformation.
